Buggy Biz: integrated pest management in collections
This book covers all aspects of the integrated control of insects in museums, archives and libraries. It’s an area in which prevention is better than cure.
Integrated Pest Management
Integrated Pest Management (IPM) consists of a logical sequence of five steps: avoid, block, detect, confine and treat. The emphasis is on preventive measures and their monitoring. Active control measures are only taken as a last resort. This book discusses the measures to be taken at each step. Further information on a particular topic and measures that require a more detailed explanation are covered in the appendices. These list the most common harmful insects in collections, with a brief description of their appearance, behaviour, the damage they cause and possible control methods.
