Boeken in brand - de gevolgen van brandschade voor het papieren erfgoed

Het Nationaal Archief (NA) en de Koninklijke Bibliotheek (KB) in Den Haag hebben in 2005 als proef boeken verbrand om te ervaren wat er gebeurt als een echte vuurramp de collectie treft. Directe aanleiding voor deze boekverbranding is de brand die in september 2004 de Duitse Anna Amalia Bibliotheek (Weimar) in de as heeft gelegd en waarbij ongeveer 50.000 boeken verloren zijn gegaan en meer dan 60.000 stuks zijn beschadigd.

The National Archives (NA) and the Koninklijke Bibliotheek (KB) in The Hague burned books as a test in 2005 to experience what happens when a real fire disaster hits the collection. The immediate reason for this book burning is the fire that in September 2004 put the German Anna Amalia Library (Weimar) in the ashes and where about 50,000 books were lost and more than 60,000 were damaged.
