Op 12 september 2024 organiseert de Rijksdienst voor het Cultureel Erfgoed (RCE) een internationaal symposium over de toekomst van het Restitutiebeleid Cultuurgoederen en WOII, in Nederland en daarbuiten. Met het symposium sluiten we een jaar af waarin de RCE met verschillende activiteiten stil stond bij het 25-jarig bestaan van het Nederlandse beleid. In verschillende bijdragen zal worden vooruitgeblikt. Hoe ziet de toekomst eruit? Is een einddatum van restitutiebeleid denkbaar? Of een supranationaal beleid? Wat zijn kansen en uitdagingen op het gebied van herkomstonderzoek, en hoe willen we omgaan met verweesde kunst?

Save the Date: Symposium on The Future of Restitution

On September 12^th, 2024, the Cultural Heritage Agency of the Netherlands (RCE) is organizing an international symposium on the future of WWII Restitution Policies, in the Netherlands and abroad. The symposium concludes a year in which the RCE commemorated the 25th anniversary of the Dutch Restitution Policy with various activities. Various contributors will look ahead: what does the future look like? Is an end date to WWII Restitution Policies conceivable? Or a supranational policy? What are opportunities and challenges in the field of provenance research? And how do we want to deal with orphaned art with a WWII background?
