An international, interdisciplinary 2-day symposium entitled ‘Drawings by Rembrandt: Connecting Art History, Science and Conservation’ will take place in Amsterdam. This is organized by the Rijksmuseum, Rembrandt House Museum and the Cultural Heritage Agency of the Netherlands (RCE).

New research techniques

The symposium will highlight exciting new research and imaging techniques that have recently been applied to the drawings of Rembrandt. The organizers aim to stimulate the exchange of ideas between different disciplines. We believe in the benefits of shared knowledge, bridging professions such as (art)history, material-technical research, digital imaging and conservation.

Art historians, curators, paper conservators, art technologists and all professionals interested in the study and preservation of drawings by Rembrandt and his school, are all welcome.

Programme and more information

The programme comprises a 2-day symposium with lectures, interdisciplinary discussions, workshops, guided tours and a visit with evening reception to the exhibition 'Rembrandt Laboratory' at the Rembrandt House Museum in Amsterdam.

More information about the symposium and how to register can be found on the website of the Rijksmuseum.
